Dollar Shave Club Review!

20141122_164342

Dollar Shave Club is a monthly subscription box focused on shaving (if you couldn’t tell by its name)! This is one of the better subscription boxes, where you really get a good bargain!

Dollar Shave Club was kind enough to send me this box to review, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it is! This is definitely an essential subscription to have.

Dollar Shave Club has three sign up options, starting at $1! Yes. ONE DOLLAR! There is a slight catch to their $1 plan though, because you have to pay $2 shipping. Still, at $3, this is a really great deal!

With their $1 ($3?) plan, you will receive 5 razor cartridges with 2 stainless steel blades. Their “The Humble Twin” razors are described as a great basic shaver for guys (or gals) who dig simplicity and precision.

With their $6 plan, you get 4 razor cartridges with 4 stainless steel blades. Their “The 4x” razor is said to give you a gentle shave in one stroke. SHIPPING IS FREE!

With their $9 plan, you will receive 4 razor cartridges with 6 stainless steel blades. Their “The Executive” razor is said to be like a personal assistant for your face. SHIPPING IS FREE!

Another great thing about Dollar Shave Club is that you can choose to receive your cartridges either monthly or bi-monthly! That is great for someone who doesn’t need to shave as often. You also get to keep the razor handle! So, even if you switch to a different plan, the handle is yours (along with the new one)! There are also extras that you can add on to your monthly box at any time.

Dollar Shave Club sent me their $6 plan with all the fixings! With that being said, let’s open it up and see what’s inside!

20141122_164311

I love the packaging! It feels sort of masculine, and I get the barber shop vibe.

20141104_135835

It came equipped with lots of info cards with information on all of the items with funny explanations. It really gives the box some charm!

20141122_163151

The 4x + 4 cartridges

This is such a great razor! It has 4 stainless steel blades that give a close yet gentle shave. The handle provides great grip, so you won’t have any slip ups in the shower (or wherever you shave).

You get 4 cartridges monthly (or bi-monthly) for just $6, and SHIPPING IS FREE!

20141122_163258

Dr. Carver’s Easy Shave Butter (6 oz)

This shave butter is non-irritating and safe for sensitive skin! It is designed to give you the closest, gentlest shave imaginable. I love that it’s non-foaming! I prefer butters and creams, because it’s much less messy.

You can add Dr. Carver’s Easy Shave Butter as an extra for $8 any month!

20141122_163227

Dr. Carver’s Magnanimous Post Shave Moisturizer (3.4 oz)

This moisturizer has a featherweight formula that calms and soothes skin, while also hydrating and locking in moisture. It contains active ingredients that can improve your skin texture, as well as protective antioxidants. I love that it’s non-greasy! That is a definite plus.

You can add Dr. Carver’s Magnanimous Post Shave Moisturizer as an extra for $9 any month!

20141122_163206

One Wipe Charlies (40 wipes)

Okay. So… These are like baby wipes, but for dudes. They feature a strong, yet soft and flushable cloth wipe with a gentle and effective cleansing solution. The Aloe Vera and Chamomile are naturally soothing, while the Cucumber and Peppermint scent leave you feeling clean. They also contain Vitamin E to leave your skin feeling hydrated. I like that they contain no parabens and are never tested on animals!

You can add One Wipe Charlies as an extra for $4 any month!

20141122_163247

Dr. Carver’s Miracle Repair Serum (2 oz)

This Miracle Repair Serum was designed to combat razor bumps, burn, and ingrown hairs! Its concentrated formula works to calm your skin and alleviate any irritation, while also helping to reduce any signs of redness and/or inflammation.

I couldn’t find this item anywhere on their site as an add on item, so let’s just say it’s $12.

20141104_133434

This box with the add ons (minus the repair serum), would cost you $27. You don’t have to add on any extras that you don’t need or want, so that would bring you back to $6 + FREE SHIPPING for the razors!

I love that you have the option to pick between monthly or bi-monthly, and that you can switch around your add ons (and razor!) at any time! This is a subscription that has true value. Personally, razors cost me between $18-$20 for the same amount and style, so $6 is a REALLY great deal! I definitely recommend checking them out for yourself.

MunchPak Review!

20141103_132910

MunchPak is a monthly subscription box of the delicious variety. They deliver really tasty snacks right to your door every month!

MunchPak was kind enough to send me a box to review, and I have to say I was NOT disappointed.

The great thing about signing up for MunchPak is you can use either your credit card or your PayPal account! Not a lot of subscriptions let you use PayPal, so that is pretty awesome! You can also cancel any time.

MunchPak has two sign up options, starting with their “Original MunchPak” (which is the one I received).

20141103_133010

The “Original MunchPak” is only $21/month, and you receive 12+ snacks EVERY MONTH!

Their other option is their “FamilyPak”. With the “FamilyPak”, you receive 22+ snacks EVERY MONTH!

With MunchPak, you get to try out new and popular snacks from all over the world, and I have to say that every single item in the box was super yummy!

20141103_133116

The Asian newspaper was a really nice touch. It made a standard brown box feel more worldly.

Now for the good part, the goodies!

20141103_133127

The box was PACKED with amazing snacks I’ve never even heard of, and the kids really enjoyed trying all of the different foods.

20141103_133145

Jack ‘n Jill Magic Creams Combo

These are Made in the Philippines. They consist of chocolate cream sandwiched by delicious chocolate wafers.

20141103_133233

hapi snacks Ramen Crunch

I admit I was a bit skeptical about these. They’re Ramen noodle snack cracker chips. I thought they would be disgusting, but they actually were AMAZING! I had to fight the baby to taste a few. They have no trans fat or cholesterol, and are Made in Malaysia!

20141103_133200

Griski

The kids loved these! They are thin pretzels filled with peanut butter. Yummy. These are Made in Serbia.

20141103_133246

Pionir Kidy Kokos

This was delicious! It was a chocolate/coconut flavor. I can’t figure out where it’s made because I can’t decipher the writing, which was kind of disappointing.

20141103_133213

I have no idea what these are called, but they’re tasty. I guess that’s what matters most. They do appear to be Asian.

20141103_133315

Kasugai Fruits Gummy Candy

These are apple, grape and peach flavored fruit snacks! The kids gobbled these up. They are Made in Japan.

20141103_133327

Petit White Langue De Chat

These were my favorite snack in the box! They are mini sandwich cookies filled with cream. I have honestly never tasted something this delicious, and I am upset they are gone now. These are Made in Japan.

20141103_133339

Furuta Sequoia

These remind me a lot of Kit-Kat bars! Chocolate coated wafers that sandwich even more chocolate. Absolutely delicious. These are also Made in Japan.

20141103_133357

Bourbon Chocoliere

These were absolutely delicious. They’re delicate pastries filled with CHOCOLATE. Can’t go wrong there…

20141103_133407

kinder country

Oh. My. Goodness.. were these yummy. They were filled with coconut flavor and rice krispies, and covered in chocolate! Best candy bar I have ever had. These are Made in Germany.

20141103_133425

de la Rosa

This is a peanut candy covered with chocolate. It kind of reminds me of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. My favorite trick or treat candy as a child. These are Made in Mexico.

20141103_133445

SunFat Hello Bear

These are crispy bear shaped biscuits filled with strawberry flavor. I didn’t really like these. The biscuits tasted a little cheesy to me, which didn’t mesh well with the strawberry. The baby LOVED them though, so no problem there! There were also two packs inside the box, so yay!!! These are Oriental snacks, but appear to be made in California.

MunchPak also has a section on their site where you can check out all of the snacks you received that month.

20141103_133710

Ultimately, this is a great subscription for anyone who loves snacking and exploring new tastes. In my opinion, it is definitely worth the price.

So what do you think of MunchPak? Are you ready to satisfy those taste buds?

To try MunchPak for yourself, click HERE!

Also, you can use the code “SNACKIN” to receive $2 off your first box!

September Petit Vour Review!

20140924_133415

For the month of September, Petit Vour teamed up with Logical Harmony to co-curate their September box! I was really excited about it, because they did so well with July’s box.

Check out my July Petit Vour + Logical Harmony review by clicking HERE!

Petit Vour is a vegan beauty box.. Its a monthly subscription box that fits right in to the current subscription box CRAZE (which I’m a definite part of!).. They feature only 100% vegan, cruelty-free products, with no harsh chemicals! SCORE! Who doesn’t love saving the sweet little furries (from animal testing), and being absolutely GORGEOUS at the same time?! RIGHT?! I KNOW!

Petit Vour is only $15/month for a monthly recurring subscription.. They also have one time payment options like 3 months for $45, or 6 months for $90.. I really like that they give you that option, because some people really hate the recurring charges and like having the option to subscribe only when they have the extra cash.. Another SCORE for Petit Vour! You also can earn PV Points for completing their surveys, buying luxe vegan beauty items from their online shop, and referring friends.

20140924_133457

The look of their box is gorgeous. I would love it just for that, but luckily it’s also filled with great vegan products. Now, let’s see what I got!

20140924_133528

Each Petit Vour box comes with a handy information card that shows you what should be in your box, and gives you details about each item, how it works, and retail values on full sizes!

20140924_133919-1

Lily Lolo Mineral Eyeshadow (FULL SIZED!)

This loose powder eyeshadow is highly pigmented for a long lasting finish with serious stay power! You can create sheer or intense washes of color, and their shades work both wet and dry.

This has quickly become one of my favorite shadows! I received the color “Moonlight”, and it really lasts all day, with no irritation. It also looks absolutely GORGEOUS on!

Retails for $12!

20140924_134157-1

Ellovi Tinted Lip Butter (FULL SIZED!)

This 6-ingredient lip butter is tinted with the red root of a Mediterranean flower called alkanet.

I really love this lip butter! It feels so natural! The only downside is that it smells a little weird to me, but I can overlook that for how wonderful it feels.

Retails for $5!

20140924_133646

Yarok Feed Your Ends Leave-In Conditioner (2 oz)

This leave-in conditioner spray is packed with vitamins, minerals and essential oils that nourish your hair before blow drying or heat styling.

It has a very pleasant citrus scent, and leaves my hair feeling nicely hydrated. Love it!

This 2 oz travel size retails for $6.74!

20140924_133720

Root Science RS Face Scrub (1.5 oz)

This invigorating and revitalizing face scrub gently exfoliates, tightens pores and evens your complexion. It unites the benefits of purifying clays, soothing herbs, and moisturizing almonds.

I LOVE this scrub! It leaves your skin looking fresh, dewy and soft. It comes in powder form, but it’s super easy to mix! Just add a few drops of water, and you have an amazing face scrub.

This 1.5 oz deluxe sample retails for around $10!

IMG_20140924_142339

The final retail value for the September Petit Vour box comes to about $33.74! Considering the box only costs $15, that is more than double the price!

Petit Vour is one of my favorite subscriptions! Unfortunately, I believe this may be my last month. I am seriously a sad vegan-aholic. Hopefully, I will be able to subscribe again in the future.

To try Petit Vour for yourself, click HERE, and don’t forget to mention me and my blog if you subscribe!

First impression? Their box is very tiny! I don’t know how they fit the products in there, but they did. You have been warned.

Small box addressed, now let’s get to the good stuff and see what was inside!

20140915_163539

Each Beauty Box 5 comes with an info card that lists each item inside and some useful information about each one, including full size retail values!

20140915_163651

20140915_163854

Natural Style by FUBU Deep Conditioner and Co-Wash (1 oz.)

This deep conditioning co-wash is equipped with 8 repairing oils and Shea butter. This treatment strengthens hair to minimize frizz, and contains no sulfates or parabens. It can be used as a co-wash for curly hair, and as a deep conditioner for all hair types.

This 1 oz sample size retails for $1.20..

Sally Hansen Toe Spacers (1 pair)

I found these to be very uncomfortable. They were marketed as cushiony, but I found them to be very stiff.

Retails for $1.99..

20140915_164233

The final retail value of the September Beauty Box 5 comes to $19.83! Considering that the box costs $12 per month, I wouldn’t call it much of a steal. If I were to recommend Beauty Box 5, I would advise you purchase the full year subscription for $99. That would make each box $8.25 per month, which is a MUCH better deal!

wpid-20140912_195322.jpg

Let’s take a look and see what was inside the Birchbox + Fashionista box!

wpid-20140912_195450.jpg

wpid-20140912_195528.jpg

Now for the good stuff.. Let’s see what I got!!

wpid-20140912_195935.jpg

Macadamia Professional Flawless Cleansing Conditioner

Deluxe Sample

This multipurpose, no-suds formula cleanses and softens hair, plus cuts blow-dry time. All you do is work it through wet hair in place of shampoo and conditioner, wait 1-5 minutes, then rinse! After that, all that’s left is love. This is one of my new favorite things. It’s borderline obsessive!

Retail value for this 3oz size is $12.29!

wpid-20140912_200008.jpg

Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Supreme Mascara

Deluxe Sample

This makeup artist-designed, water-resistant formula lengthens, volumizes, and curls your lashes. This mascara is said to last all day. If it did, I didn’t even notice. In my humble opinion, it doesn’t have enough coverage. But then again, I prefer a lot of WOW to my lashes.

Retail value for this 0.2 oz size is $14.20!

wpid-20140912_200214.jpg

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Silver Eyeliner

Deluxe Sample

This is a luxe, creamy liner from the NYC-based designer for smudge-proof, all-day wear. You can glide it along your lash line for a defined look, or blend it within 30 seconds for a smokey eye with a dash of shimmer. I love this eyeliner! I was hesitant about the color, but it can be very subtle and I love how versatile it is. Pleasant surprise!

Retail value for this 0.03 oz size is $12!

wpid-20140912_200053.jpg

dr. brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner

Deluxe Sample

This award-winning gel degunks pores for fewer blackheads and spotlight-ready smooth skin. Apply a thin layer to area’s of concern two or three times a week, and rinse after 5-10 minutes. I haven’t seen any obvious changes since using this, but it’s interesting to watch it turn blue….

Retail value for this 0.25 oz size is $11.25!

wpid-20140912_200520.jpg

Naobay Body Radiance Lotion

Deluxe Sample

This Spanish cream hydrates and softens with olive oil and avocado. This has such a spectacular combination of scents! I was really happy to see this in my box, and I’m even happier after seeing how soothing and hydrating it is on.

Retail value for this 30 mL size is $2.89

wpid-20140912_200754.jpg

The final retail value of my September Birchbox + Fashionista box comes to a whopping $52.63! That is more than 5 times the cost of the box! I was VERY pleased with my box this month, and am really enjoying their new sample choice option.

I recently spoke with the owner of SunTwist. I haven’t seen many reviews on any of their boxes, but I’d heard rumors that their baby box wasn’t very good compared to others. Being that they are a new company, I wanted to try them out for myself rather than go by rumors alone.

SunTwist is a monthly subscription box service. On their website, they have a few subscription options to choose from. You can choose from their “Beauty Box”, “Yankee Candle Addiction” box, or their “Jewelry” box. There are 1 month, 3 month, and 6 month sign up options.

SunTwist has removed their option for their “Baby Box” from their website, so I assume that is now discontinued.

I elected to review their SunTwist “Beauty Box”! The SunTwist “Beauty Box” is $20 per month. There are no discounts with longer signups, but with a 3 month or 6 month subscription they are offering to include a free gift set with purchase.

Here is a description of their “Beauty Box” right from their website:

Glam yourself up with our SunTwist Beauty Box. Each box contains 5-8 beauty and spa products.

That said, let’s see what I got!

The SunTwist Beauty Box came in a plain brown box.

There wasn’t anything special about the packaging. The products were just inside the plain brown box. There really isn’t much to say other than that.

20140922_160559

There was no insert or instruction card, so I had to figure out what the products are and how much they cost on my own. Luckily, I’ve seen them all before and they had the ingredients listed on them clearly.

Maybelline Baby Lips Crystal Moisturizing Lip Balm in Beam of Blush

This lip balm is FANTASTIC! It promises 8-hour moisture, and contains shea butter and Vitamin E! It also lets off a bit of shimmer and smells like bubble gum (if you’re into that).. I own two of these that don’t have shimmer,  so I was really happy to see this!

Neutrogena Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes (travel sized)

These ultra soft cloths gently dissolve all traces of make-up. Apparently, even waterproof mascara,  according to the package. I haven’t tried them yet,  because I have so many from other brands, but I will eventually make my way to these.

Retails for $1.99 at Ulta

Body Benefits Pumice Stone

These are great for smoothing and softening rough skin. I already owned one, and it really is a great product!

Retails for $1.99 at Ulta

Flower Nail’d It Nail Lacquer in That-s Just Dan-De-Lion

Ultra-shiny, high-gloss formula that provides long-lasting, chip-free manicures. It is also 3-free, so it’s free of DBP, toluene and camphor.

Retails for $4.98 at Wal-Mart

iGo Jasmine Scented Nail Polish Remover Pads

These polish removing pads are acetone free,  portable and convenient.

Retails for 97 cents at Wal-Mart

20140922_160133

Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Hand + Body Lotion 2 oz

This lotion is described as being rich and non-greasy, blending cocoa butter and pure lanolin to quench and relieve moisture-starved skin. Since I am CRAZY ALLERGIC to lanolin, I will NOT be trying this. In fact, I’m afraid to even touch it.

Retails for 97 cents at Wal-Mart

Pond’s Crema S Nourishing Moisture Cream 1.75 oz

This hypoallergenic cream moisturizes and nourishes for up to 24 hours with a blend of natural botanical extracts and nutrients. It promises softer, healthy-looking skin. I personally LOVE Pond’s, so I was happy to see this.

Retails for $1.50 at Wal-Mart

April Bath and Shower Anti-Bacterial Hand Lotion 3-pack

These lotions are used to decrease bacteria on the skin.

Retails for $1 at Dollar Tree

April Bath and Shower Apple Pomegranate Body Wash, Body Lotion, and Moisturizing Shampoo

Another Dollar Tree item. I’m not fond of these kinds of things, so I won’t be using this for fear of allergies.

Retails for $1 at Dollar Tree

Freeman Beauty Facial Peel-Off Clarifying Cucumber Mask 0.5 oz

I own a larger tube of this and LOVE it! This really is a great peel-off mask.

Retails for $1.37 at Wal-Mart

Freeman Beauty Blue Agave Hydrating Facial Paper Mask 15g

This paper mask is supposed to hydrate dry, thirsty skin. I’m not a huge fan of paper masks, but I do love Freeman Beauty, so I MIGHT give this one a try.

Retails for $1.99 at Wal-Mart

The final retail value of the SunTwist Beauty Box comes to $22.25! It was close, but for $20 you actually come out ahead. I can NOT deny that most (possibly all?) of these products were purchased at Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree, and you could probably just head down to your local store to get them yourself.

I, personally, would not purchase this box for myself, but the value is definitely there… surprisingly enough!

Walmart Fall Beauty Box Review!

20140919_172622

So, there is a new addition to the lovely world of subscription boxes, and this one is from Wal-Mart! Yes, I said Wal-Mart!

The Wal-Mart beauty box is FREE to subscribe! You only pay a $5 flat rate fee for shipping. Awesome!!!

Although this is indeed a subscription box, this one isn’t monthly. The Wal-Mart beauty box will be delivered four times a year, bringing you one per season.

I will be reviewing the “Fall Beauty Box” for you today 🙂

The Fall Wal-Mart beauty box was packaged nicely in true subscription box fashion.

20140919_172709

I was really surprised at how nicely they packaged everything, being that I was expecting just a bunch of samples.

But I was wrong!

 20140919_173625

Now, let’s see what I got!

20140919_172903

Dove Shampoo/Conditioner Deluxe Samples

These are for fine, flat hair so I obviously won’t be using them. I am definitely going to pass these on though. Great sized samples! There was also a deluxe sample of Dove hair oil, but it isn’t pictured here.

20140919_173056

Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid Deodorant

This FULL SIZED deodorant is worth more than the shipping cost for the entire box! Great value, and definitely a great product!

20140919_173033

Covergirl nail polish & balm lip pencil

Getting a FULL SIZED lip product was a welcome surprise! Everyone loves a good lippie, and this deluxe size of nail polish is a great bonus!

20140919_173218

Fragrance & Skin Care Samples

Anddd we finally get to the samples. Honestly, samples like this were all that I was expecting to receive, so these were actually welcome. The box included samples of L’oreal Pore Vanisher, Neutrogena Foundation, and a Nicki Minaj Pink Friday sample.

20140919_173347

All in all, the Fall Wal-Mart Beauty Box was an absolute shocker! I was highly impressed with the value, especially for a FREE box! I definitely recommend signing up for this one!

August Beauty Box 5 Review!

image

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription box.. For $12 a month, you will get 5 deluxe or full size beauty items shipped right to your door.. Beauty Box 5 ships through DHL/USPS, so it comes right to your mailbox!

They give a good mix of beauty related products that range from hair, to skincare, makeup, and polishes! For the month of September, you can get their August box FREE when you sign up! Just apply the promo code “AUGUSTFREE” at checkout, and you will only pay the $12 for September’s box 🙂

To sign up for Beauty Box 5, click HERE

I received their free August box and was surprised by how tiny the box was! I don’t know how they fit the products in there, but they did. You have been warned (lol)

Small box addressed, now let’s get to the good stuff and see what was inside!

image

First impression? I can’t get past how tiny it is! But it does look pretty cute..

image

Each Beauty Box 5 comes with an info card that lists each item inside and some useful information about each one, including full size retail values!

 image

Novex Brazilian Keratin 1.05oz packet

Value = .63 cents

The info card says to massage this intensive treatment into your hair after shampooing, leave in for 25 minutes, then rinse out for smoothness and shine..

Full size retails for $19.50 for 2lbs

image

La Fresh Travel Lite Makeup Remover Wipes

8 wipes value = $3.35

These wipes are said to remove makeup from eyes, lips and face and are free of parabens..

Full size retails for $19.99 for 48 wipes

image

Nanacoco Lip Gloss in Mysterious

FULL SIZE! Value = $3.99

This lip gloss is definitely full of pigment and is said to have Vitamin E! Although the info card states that this gloss has “no stickiness attached”, I have to disagree.. This is comparable to putting on a nicely pigmented pink glue stick.. Just my humble opinion.. 😉

image

Style Essentials Nail Polish

0.25 oz value = $1.75

This polish is advertised as a pretty dash of color with a fun finish.. I’m thinking not. This really isn’t my color.. The polish itself is very thin and transparent, but easy to apply..

Full size retails for $7 for the 4 Nail Polish Collection

image

Purlisse Pur~protect SPF 30

.5oz value = $16.17

Although this sunscreen is said to be non-greasy and won’t upset sensitive complexions, it pretty much was the opposite.. It not only irritated my face, but was also very very greasy.. Definitely not good for my combination skin.

Full size retails for $55 for 1.7oz

image

Ultimately, it is a cute box.. I have no use of sunscreen at the moment, am against keratin products, and seriously dislike the nail polish.. BUT the wipes are perfect for my purse and the lip gloss is super pigmented and long wearing..

The overall value of the August Beauty Box 5 was $25.91.. So for $12, you really do get your money’s worth. I’m not sure this box is geared towards women though. I would more likely suggest it for a teenage girl..
